High Pressure/Temperature Combustion Duct (HPTCD)

Autoignition is a complex phenomenon that plays a greater role in the performance of power generation systems and usually operates under turbulent flow, high-pressure, and high-temperature conditions.

Therefore, to understand the combustion processes under these conditions, the high pressure/temperature combustion duct , HPTCD, was designed to investigate canonical flames at a high pressure/temperature environment.

Figure 1 shows the layout of the HPTCD. The duct could operate up to 40 bar and preheated air up to 1000 K and is equipped with four quartz windows to facilitate laser diagnostics.
